I moved to the United States from India in 1980 and spent most of my adult life in Southern California. About a year and a half ago, my wife and I moved to Estero to be closer to our son and family. We have enjoyed making Estero our home, and now that I am fully retired, I would like to become more involved, get to know the community better, and use my time and experience in a way that is helpful to the people who live here.
Professionally, I am a retired electrical engineer with more than four decades of experience in public utilities, infrastructure, engineering, and project management. I spent 26 years with the City of Glendale Water & Power, where I worked on overhead and underground electric systems, substations, capital improvement projects, equipment specifications and purchasing, and the planning and construction of major utility projects. I also supervised engineers and technical staff and represented Glendale Water & Power on the Southern California Joint Pole Committee, including serving one year as its president.
One of the parts of my career I enjoyed most was working with people to solve practical problems. My work brought me into regular contact with residents, city staff, contractors, vendors, engineers, and other public agencies. I attended City Council meetings when contract approvals were needed. I learned the importance of listening to different viewpoints, asking the right questions, and finding solutions that are safe, practical, and responsible. After retiring from the City of Glendale, I continued working for many years on engineering and project-management assignments supporting Southern California Edison and other organizations.
I believe my engineering and project experience may be especially useful on issues involving transportation, infrastructure, development, and other major projects affecting Estero.
At the same time, I do not want to limit myself only to those areas. I am a fast learner; I enjoy learning about new subjects, and I am open to helping wherever the community has a need. I would be happy to listen and learn from those who have served Estero for many years, while
bringing my own experience and perspective to the table. Most of all, I look forward to being an active, positive member of the community and helping Estero continue to be a wonderful place to live as it grows and changes in the years ahead.
