Julie Yellig’s team of volunteers, comprising residents from Rapallo, Pelican Sound, RiverCreek, Bella Terra, Copperleaf, Belle Lago, The Vines, Riverwoods, Shadow Wood, and Grandezza, collected 380 pounds of bagged litter during the weekend of March 8th. Since the start of October 2024 (the new season), a total of 3,320 pounds, that amounts to a staggering 1.7 tons, has been collected between the Vines entrance (Breckenridge Road) north of Walmart and south of Coconut Road.
Engage Estero, greatly acknowledges all the residents who pick up litter on their walks throughout the community. We also appreciate the support that “Keep Lee County Beautiful” does in encouraging everyone in Lee County to participate in the mission to help keep Estero beautiful and environmentally healthy. This organization organizes events year-round throughout Lee County – including beach pickups. More information can be found at https://www.klcb.org/
To all the volunteers who contribute to cleaning up the roads in Estero, Engage Estero recognizes that you go “above and beyond,” and your dedication makes a real difference.
A big thank you to Marathon/Dos Amigos Authentic Mexican Grill who continues to provide water and ice to volunteers again this season. Engage Estero and everyone involved in the clean-up appreciates their ongoing support.
If you want to help clean up our roads to make a difference in our environment, please email Julie Yellig at ecclhwy41@gmail.com. Julie will put you in touch with local groups that help clear up our road network and explain how to help with the Hwy 41 Adopt a Highway program.
