The February Adopt a Highway team of Volunteers has been hard at work keeping the Estero stretch of Highway 41 clear of debris and rubbish. Between October and April, Engage Estero’s Julie Yellig organizes volunteers to clean areas of the highway between the Vines entrance (Breckenridge Road) north of Walmart and south to Coconut Road.
The team’s efforts resulted in the collection of 560 pounds of bagged litter this month.
The recent weekend volunteers represented Rapallo, Pelican Sound, RiverCreek, Bella Terra, Copperleaf, The Vines, Estero Pointe, and Grandezza.
Engage Estero’s Board of Directors and Executive Management Team expresses their considerable thanks to all concerned for their efforts in keeping Estero such a lovely community to live in and visit. We appreciate all of our Estero neighbors who participate in picking up litter in their neighborhood, on their walks, and in other Adopt a Road programs in our community. These volunteers include residents from Mirasol, Lighthouse Bay, Cascades, Pelican Sound, and Genova, who participate in the Village’s Adopt a Road program for Via Coconut Point, Estero Parkway, and Williams Road.
Everyone involved should also be aware that the Village of Estero’s Council and Managers also pass on their admiration for Engage Estero to pass on to all concerned. Your efforts do not go unnoticed!
The Engage Estero team also wishes to express its sincere thanks to Marathon/Dos Amigos Authentic Mexican Grill, who have provided ice and water to our volunteers to help them clean up Hwy 41 since the start of this initiative in October 2020.
If you want to help clean up our roads to make a difference in our environment, please email Julie Yellig at ecclhwy41@gmail.com. Julie will put you in touch with local groups that help clear up our road network and explain how to help with the Hwy 41 Adopt a Highway program.
