If you’ve ever wandered Koreshan State Park during the day and wondered what life really felt like inside the historic settlement, this is your chance to experience it in a whole new way.

The Friends of Koreshan State Park is inviting our community to a special after-hours program, Inside the Earth: A Koreshan Living History Evening. You’ll explore historic spaces—including the bakery, cabins, and more—while immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the Koreshan era through living history, demonstrations, music, art, and storytelling.

Want to Go Deeper? Koreshan Is Looking for Volunteers

Koreshan State Park has an active and welcoming volunteer community, particularly during the winter and spring seasons. Many volunteers enjoy the social connections that develop through shared activities like hockey games, happy hours, and other gatherings outside of volunteer shifts. Volunteers also gain a behind-the-scenes look at the park’s history while helping preserve and maintain this unique Estero landmark.

Volunteer Opportunities

Individual Volunteers (local or seasonal residents)

No minimum weekly hours required. Opportunities include maintenance, visitor services, and office support. The park team works with each volunteer to find the right role and schedule.

Resident Volunteers (RV/camper volunteers)

Volunteers who do not live locally year-round may stay on-site in the volunteer village for up to 16 weeks in exchange for volunteering at least 24 hours per week. Couples may share hours if roles are a good fit. Winter season (December–March) typically fills up 10 months in advance.

Volunteer Benefits

• Volunteer up to 50 hours per year to earn free entry to Florida State Parks for one year.
• Volunteer up to 250 hours per year to earn a Florida State Parks annual pass.
• Active volunteers may attend many programs, tours, and most events for free.

Skills and Interests Needed

Koreshan is actively seeking volunteers with interests or experience in music, singing, theatrical performance, pioneer-style crafts (such as sewing or woodworking), administrative and office support, web design, marketing, event planning, mechanics, machining, and gardening or groundskeeping.
