FGCU Musician Quang Vo

Quang Vo pianistThis year FGCU’s Bower School of Music and the Arts will provide the musical interlude that illustrates the amazing talent we have right here in Greater Estero. Dr Michael Baron, serves as the Myra and Van Williams Distinguished Professor of Music and Head of Keyboard Studies at the Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University. He will introduce the hugely talented Quang Vo, who has already reached international recognition for his amazing skills as a pianist.

Quang Vo is a 19-year-old pianist from Vietnam and a junior Piano Performance major at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he studies with Dr. Michael Baron. He has distinguished himself in numerous national and international competitions, earning top prizes at events including the Kayserburg International Piano Competition; the Steinway Youth Competition in Vietnam; the Crescendo Competition in Italy; the V. Danubia Liszt International Competition in Hungary; the Wonder Keys Competition in Russia; the Chicago International Music Competition; and the China–ASEAN Piano Competition, among many others.

Mr. Vo has received first-place awards for several consecutive years in both solo and piano duet categories at the Florida State Music Teachers Association competitions. At the national MTNA Competitions, he was a finalist in both divisions and earned second prize in the Stecher & Horowitz Two-Piano Competition with Duy Vu. Most recently, he was selected as one of three finalists at the prestigious Blanca Uribe International Piano Competition in Colombia. He has appeared in solo recitals and as a concerto soloist with orchestras across Asia, Europe, and the United States.

In recognition of his exceptional artistic achievements, he was recently honored by the Prime Minister of Vietnam. Mr. Vo is also an accomplished violinist and cellist, has studied five languages, and is widely recognized for his brilliant technique and compelling musical personality.
