There is a broad spectrum of influences that improve health outcomes for residents with acute or chronic illness. Everything from accessibile treatment, emotional support, a community safety net, and help for caregivers contribute to recovery times and success rates.
The September Community and Membership Meeting of Engage Estero will feature four local leaders in improving health outcomes in our region by making healthcare itself more accessibile to those who need it, as well as providing a support system for families dealing with health issues. Attendance is free, but space is limited so registration is required.
Jonathan Witenko, the System Director of Virtual Health and Telemedicine at Lee Health, will explain how new technologies (AI and improved monitoring methods) will revolutionize and enhance future health outcomes and in-home treatment and monitoring.
Barbara Shearer, Neighbors Network of Lee County, will explain the importance of a “connected community” where residents help one another, meet new people in person, and provide assistance where most help is needed. These actions can overcome loneliness and provide a benefit that helps longevity.
Kay Jasso, MS Center of SWFL, will cover the impact of Multiple Sclerosis and the role caregivers and a supportive community can play.
Mary Schoeffel, Executive Director of The Parkinson’s Association of Southwest Florida, will discuss the debilitating condition of Parkison’s Disease, the importance of a support group, and the provision of a wide range of information for patients and carers.
