In recognition of the visionary leadership and valuable contributions of Don Eslick benefiting Estero over the years, in 2012 the Lee County Board of County Commissioners named the Estero Parkway Bridge over I-75 the “Don Eslick Bridge.”
Unfortunately, on December 4, 2018, one Lee County Commissioner proposed an action to the Commission, which was later approved, that the name of the Estero bridge over I-75 be renamed. Neither the public, nor the other Commissioners, were advised of this proposal in advance. The Commissioners were also not advised that the bridge under discussion was the bridge they had already named the Don Eslick Bridge in 2012.
Since then, Commissioner Mann has publicly stated that he was not aware at the time that it was the Don Eslick Bridge being discussed. He has since called for this action be reconsidered to “correct this sad mistake.”
You can help by attending the BOCC meeting on Tuesday, December 18 as a visible show of support for the man so highly respected and known by many as Mr. Estero.
At the December 14, 2018 ECCL meeting, the board passed the linked resolution.
Thank you for your support,
