On October 6, 2017, the member community representatives of the Estero Council of Community Leaders overwhelmingly approved the execution of the attached Resolution entitled Delayed Environmental Enhancement and Preservation Communities Overlay Study, for submittal to the recipients of this letter. Briefly, it requests that Lee County, acting through its Board of County Commissioners and Local Planning Agency, not approve any further development along or impacting Corkscrew Road in the DR/GR until the County’s own Corkscrew Road Transportation Study (“Environmental
Enhancement and Preservation Communities Overlay Study”) has been completed, reviewed, and evaluated by all relevant parties.
Further, the Resolution asks that the County’s Department of Community Development to provide preliminary results of that study as soon as possible and schedule a Public Workshop for the benefit of interested stakeholders as indicated in Task 9 – Public Involvement Program of that Study’s Scope of Services.
We appreciate your consideration of this very important issue.
