Feel free to ask us a question about an Estero issue on your mind. We strive to respond quickly and accurately. Want more information? Subscribe to our e-mails and come to our meetings!
Use the comment form below to ask a question!
What is going to happen on the NW corner of 41 & Coconut Rd?
As residents of the “Tidewater” community off of Ben Hill Griffin Road, we are wondering what commercial/retail space will be occupied by the land adjacent to Tidewater? We can see that one area is dedicated to more apartment buildings, but what retail/commercial stores will be located adjacent to that, and also another area located on the recently cleared area near the intersection of Estero Parkway and Ben Hill Griffon Road? Thank you.
For this information, your best source of information would be the Village Community Development Department. Their contact information is available at: https://estero-fl.gov/departments-services/building-zoning/
Thanks to you all for your engagement in transportation challenges in Lee County (the greater Villages of Estero area). It looks like your recent meeting was very productive and worthwhile. I am sorry I could not attend.
There is a budget decision about roads that I ask you to examine. Last year, the County, in the CIP budget had planned to priortize funding expansion of Alico Road east of Ben Hill Griffin. This was not, nor has never been a pressing need based on car counts. So, a group of citizens raised a ruckus and were able to get that money redirected to more pressing needs.
I see that your list of priorities also does not have expanding Alico road on it. I do not think the CIP budget for this year is approved. (I am out of town). Please consider asking the County Manager or an appointee that can defend the budget to explain transportation-related decisions. We know that the appropriations, after all, are where the ‘rubber meets the road”, and if funds are used to expand Alico, they will not be available for other priorities.
Thanks for your consideration.
Nora, I am going to make sure your comments are shared with our Transportation Director, Pat Hiltman. I hope when you are back in town that you will attend one of
our meetings and speak to this issue. We need concerned citizens like yourself to be an active voice within the community.
‘Thanks for your prompt reply Barbara. I can think of no better example than Don Eslick, and ECCL to show the power of a small group of people. I hope that the Estero residents’
engagement ensures that southwest Florida remains a desirable place to live. I’ve been a member of the Responsible Growth Management Coaltiions (www.rgmcswf.org) since I came to Le county in 1997 as a biology faculty at FGCU. That organization has helped me learn, and participate in governance effectively. Hopefully some more residents of the Villages are interested in joining us in our efforts. I hope to meet you in person some day soon. best to you.
I hope Estero Today has not fallen into the Politically Correct philosophy. I had asked a question and it is not published here. So I will ask again and keep records. Will whomever is in charge of vetting a City manager also simply Google the person’s name and past experience?
My apology for not responding sooner, but the question is more appropriate for the Estero Village Council as they are the entity vetting/hiring the city manager.
I would contact them to make your suggestion estero-fl.gov.
Three Oaks is maintained by a few entities, including the County, The Village and The Brooks. I would start with the Estero Village Council to voice your concern. Information can be found on the Village website at
I moved to Villa Palmeras from NC. When we signed up our kids for school, one of them could not get into any of the local schools and has to travel over 10 miles to go to school everyday.
Why are children not allowed to go to school in their own district?
I would contact the Lee County School system at leeschools.net and ask that important question.
I am sure it has to do with available space etc. I would also voice your concern at one of the upcoming Village Council meetings. You can find that information at estero-fl.gov.
Why am I receiving info on the PR Zebra firm? Please be clear about the info sent in emails to us. Thanks
We are starting, once again, to highlight Estero businesses under our Business Section of Estero Today. Every couple of weeks we will have a few that companies that we showcase.
Our goal is to get businesses involved in the community to support the resolution of current issues and create a more diversive organization.
Please feel free to contact me personally if you have additional questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once again I showed up for a Design Review Committee meeting (Wednesday, June 10th at 5:30 pm at Estero Community Center) and there wasn’t one. I thought this situation would improve after incorporation, but it hasn’t. I would really appreciate it if the Village leaders would monitor and maintain an accurate website and notice meetings properly.
Thanks Marlene I would go to the Village of Estero website at http://www.estero-fl.gov to check on meeting times and agendas.
Thanks, Barbara. There appear to be too many Village of Estero websites to properly maintain. I will try to select the proper one in the future. In the meantime, I hope you can point the “old” ones to the proper one. It is very confusing.
Can you shed any light on Bamboo Island and its current status. Located at the end of Broadway East the property has now been gated off. I understand there is to be some sort of monkey facility placed out there. Any info?
Thank you for your comments. We will explore this issue further and discuss at our upcoming ECCL meeting.
I am a drummer and member of a band, “Brooks Brothers”. This past spring I performed with another jazz band at the Koreshan “ART HALL” and the performance was well received by a large number of visitors. My question is, would there be some interest to have the Brooks Brothers perform some time this coming spring of 2016? I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you, Rod Hermes (239) 495-6325
Hi Rod, I would contact Marilyn Edwards who can help you with this. She can be reached at email@example.com
I will pass on your information to her as well.
What are the plans to decrease the noise level from Corkscrew Rd.? The noise will only get worse with the much needed expansion.
We live in Grandezza in the Santa Lucia community. The noise level has increased dramatically with the additional traffic resulting from new development and additional large trucks using Corkscrew Rd on a daily basis.
Chris, Thank you for your message and voicing your concerns. The ECCL is having a very important transportation meeting on June 15th at 10am at the Estero Community Center where your questions could be asked of some of the
areas transportation leaders. This meeting is open to the public and we hope you will attend!
What are your new meeting times?
Good Afternoon Antionette, our regular monthly meeting has been changed to Monday, June 15th, at 10:00am. This will be a very important meeting to attend as it will be focused on the transportation needs of Estero.
Why do we have those RV’s for sale again across from Coconut Point. I think it looks terrible.
Mary thanks for your comments. It would be a good idea for you to express your concern with the Village Council at their next public meeting.
For a list of upcoming meetings just go to estero-fl.gov.
One of my neighbors had a question on installation of sliding hurricane glass doors on his lani and if they needed a building permit to install them. Any kind of answer would be appreciated.
Jim, I would either call the building permit office at Lee County or ask a licensed contractor for this information.
What is the date of the June meeting?
The June meeting will be held on Friday June 19th, at 10am at the Estero Community Center.
Correction: The June meeting has been changed to June 15th at 10:00 am where we will have guest speaking about transportation needs/concerns.
The “grass” or more like it, the weeds along both sides and in the median of Coconut Via are long overdue for cutting.
The overgrown weeds are along the entire length of Coconut Via from Coconut to Corkscrew.
I assume the cutting is the responsibility of the Village of Estero, but maybe not.
Please see my prior answer to a similar question. We appreciate your concerns!
Who is responsible for maintaining the grass “weeds” cutting on Coconut Via?
Since we incorporated, I assume it is the responsibility of Estero, although I assume Estero has contracted that out to an outside landscape company.
Nonetheless, the weeds and occassional grass are long overdue for cutting from Coconut to Corkscrew.
Lee County is responsible for cutting the median on Via Coconut Road. Many times it takes a phone call or email to accelerate the process.
You can go to http://www.lee-county.com and under “submit request for action” you can request, per the online form, that they mow the median or call 239-533-9400 hotline to request.
I believe that many of these types of issues are going to be discussed in the near future by the new ECCL board as well.
Your information on the Lee Memorial Healthcare system mentions the ever aging population. That means aging eyesight, too. I’d suggest that you have your website designer review his work with that in mind. The site needs much more contrast in the lettering. I had to turn the lights out in order to even guess at what I was reading – especially this email form!
I am forwarding your comments to our web designer to review. We are actually in the process of evaluating the website and will pay close attention to the fonts/colors etc to make it easier to read.
Where can I find more information on The Village of Estero’s non residential design standards?
I would suggest going to the Lee County website at http://www.leegov.com and search for information under Chapter 33.
In addition you may want to email Sharon at firstname.lastname@example.org for the long range development plans etc.
Could you please tell me what this project is, its location and what issues are being addressed that will change its status from Insufficient to Sufficient?
DCI2015‐00001, Estero Crossing, Rezone from CPD to MPD, Status Insufficient
This is a pending matter which is in the hands of the Lee County Planning staff. To learn more, the contact is Sharon Jenkins-Owen at SJenkins-Owen@leegov.com.
I would like to know if Estero has a building permit department?
No, Estero does not have a building permit department. The Village of Estero Council held its first meeting on March 17 and is in the process of developing a Planning and Zoning Board and a Design Review Committee. Lee County staff will be providing the Village with such services for some time.
Are there plans for development of the Parcel on the Corner West of US 41 and Coconut Road (across from the Coconut Mall – entrance to Hyatt)??
This parcel is included in the area generally known as the Healthcare Village envisioned in the January 2015 Community Planning Initiative Final Report. The Village Council has determined to stay any new application for development approval in this area until further study is completed. This additional study is expected to be completed within three months.
sure beats the rumors of a McDonald’s – fast food, or another car dealership — would like to see something a bit more tasteful anchoring that corner – what are the long term plans for putting aside green space in Estero? Is there a plan for a land bank/land trust to purchase parcels and help all of our property values by limiting over development?
To learn about Estero’s future land planning, go to the Village of Estero’s website and read the Community Planning Initiative at this link http://estero-fl.gov/about/community-planning-initiative-report/
what can be done about the excessive noise dust and trash coming from neal builders site on block st west of river ranch very un professional contractors
Thank you for your question/concern. The Village of Estero has a contract with Lee County Code Enforcement to handle code violation complaints at 533-8895. Noise complaints are handled through the Sheriff’s office 477-1000 and/or contact Neal at 888-720-4429.
Has the 951 extension behind Stoneybrook been approved? Where can I find more info regarding what is going in between wild cat run and stoneybrook? Thank you! Nice website!
No, CR 951 has not been approved. Collier County Metropolitan Planning Organization would like for CR 951 to be extended from Collier County up to Alico Road in Lee County, however, the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization does not currently have it in their future planning. That does not mean that plans can’t change. We all need to stay vigilant.
There was an add in the Naples Daily News that caught my eye. The article was about a new development called Genova, and went on to explain the price range, but did not give a specific location or any way to see any models. Could you please share some more information for me as my wife and I are interested. Thank you.
Genova has not yet been built. The site is located at the southeast corner of Corkscrew and Via Coconut Point. The developer went before the Estero Design Review recently; here is where you can read about it http://www.esterofl.org/edrc/minutes_edrc/EDRC-Meeting%20Minutes_2015-02-11.pdf
I see clearing beginning on the Del Webb property on Ben HILL griffin. I dont see any plans that the eccl has approved. How can the builder start without approved plans? Thanks
If you go to http://www.esterofl.org and type in Del Webb, you will see there was a presentation on Sept. 15, 2014 before the ECPP and one to EDRC on March 11, 2015.
There have been 3 potential health issues at a condo complex in Estero. Neither Lee County Health department, the management company or Board of Directors of the HOA have been able to resolve in a timely manner. My questions are:
1). Who can take ownership of this potential health and safety issues (current and future).
2). Who provides licenses to property management companies?
The ECCL does not get involved with individual problems associated with residential communities. You should go back to your board of directors, the management company and/or the Lee County Health Dept. to get the problem resolved.
Wondering if there will be a “Taste of Estero” again this year.
The Celebrate Estero event is scheduled be held Saturday, March 28, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Miromar Outlet.
I’m wondering if a more rigorous system of collection of household hazardous waste is being considered. The current “Don’t ask, don’t tell” system is an embarrassment.
The Village of Estero will continue to use Lee County waste management services. As you probably know, they have a Household Chemical Waste drop-off facility at 6441 Topaz Court in Fort Myers
Question What is going to be at the corner of Estero Pky and Three Oaks Pky, looking forward to a response.
Jean Mc DOWELL
PS good luck to all
This property is being developed as a mixed use development with apartments and several small commercial out lots. It is not in the Village of Estero.
Will the residents of Estero meet the candidates for City Manager before they are hired?
No. The Village of Estero charter calls for the elected Village Council to make this decision. This first Village Manager will be hired on an interim basis by the Council.
I guess no reply means no!
The reply is that the charter calls for the elected Council to make this decision. This first Village Manager will be hired on an interim basis by the Council.
What is being developed at the NW corner of 3 Oaks Parkway and Estero Parkway. Work is now in progress on the land?
What is going to be built on the corner of Three Oaks and Estero Parkway?
Silt fence is up and equipment being moved in, but what is going there?
This property is being developed as a mixed use development with apartments and several small commercial out lots. It is not in the Village of Estero.
I live at the Reserve at Estero. For the 2012 election I voted at precinct 121 at the Catholic Church on Cypress View. Where can I vote March 3? At any precinct? Thanks.
The information regarding Estero precincts can be found at this link http://esterotoday.com/quality-of-life/incorporation-referendum/council-election-information/
Is Bill Spikowski’s presentation posted anywhere?
I would like to see it.
Thanks for letting me know

You will find the report here on Estero Today http://esterotoday.com/esteros-future-development-plan-completed/
Are there any published plans for the finishing of the cinder block wall that was constructed behind the new Coconut Point Honda?. I’m a board member for The Greens Condo Association that is on the other side of this wall. The owners are asking what, if anything, will be done to finish our side of this wall.
According to Bill Prysi, Chairman of the Estero Design Review Committee, it is most likely the required buffer between commercial & residential required by code. It will also most likely have landscaping added to the wall between the wall & the adjacent condos.
The owner of the 12.35 aces parcel in front of Bella Terra is expected to request a zoning change from commercial to residential. My question is who will hear the request, the village of Estero or Lee County?
Bella Terra Master Associatioon
If this is a new zoning change, it will be the Village of Estero.
Does anyone think that it would be a good idea to have a banner sign or tent at the farmers market at Coconut Point on Thursdays. I was there today and it was so well attended that I thought that it might be a good venue to publicize the upcoming “town meetings”presenting the council member candidates, the upcoming election etc.
Thanks for the suggestion; however, it’s too late. The Candidate Council Forums are tomorrow, 1/31, and Tuesday, 2/3/15.
At the farmers market…any publicity needed for the election in March??
Nancy: This would be a great place for the candidates to circulate, talk about the importance of voting and hand out their information.
As a homeowner at Island Club at Corkscrew Woodlands, I was floored when the representatives of the developers who bought the land between ours and Lowe’s told our community that they planned on constructing many 4-story apartment buildings there with a total of over 400 apartments! I have never, ever seen anything but deterioration and a major uptick in serious crimes in areas where apartment buildings were constructed. One apartment building in this area of single homes and duplexes is bad enough, but 400 apartments within a small area is a much worse scenario than anyone living here ever imagined! The last thing upscale Estero needs is this type of construction!
I concur with Alan Dell about the apartment complexes in Estero. We moved to Estero because of the quality of life. It appears that it may be going in the wrong direction. I hope it is not growth at any cost. Be careful what you wish for. I truly hope our elected officials will make the right decision in maintaining the nice community that it is. You need to tighten up the codes so you cover all your bases. Definitely not happy about Walmarts on every street corner and large apartment complexes. I hope that we will not have to relocate.
Has DelWebb filed any documents to develope the site next to Germain arena?
The Lee County Community Development Dept. states that: The arena site is bounded by Interstate 75 on the west and three separate parcels on the south, east and north. At this time a limited review development order has been approved only for expansion of the lake situated on the south parcel; a development order has been approved for development of multi-family dwelling units to the east; and, an application for development of single family and twin villa units is pending but not yet approved on the tract to the north.
The pending project to the north is a Pulte Group development. Del Webb is not reflected in any of the application material for the other two projects.
I have 11 years experience in Code Enforcement and would like to be part of the new Village of Estero’s development to better the Life, Safety and Welfare of it’s citizens. Are there any plans on implementing a Code Enforcement Department?
Initially, Lee County will be providing these services. Once the Village Council has been seated, you may contact them to let them know of your interest for their future consideration.
I have a question about the RaceTrac gas station that is going in next to Coconut Point Ford. I think their canopy is ugly and colors frightful. will they have to change their canopy to meet Estero’s standards?
Their colors are limited to match the colors of the main building and they cannot be associated with their logo, or in other words, the bright red that you typically see everywhere else. They are conforming to our ‘current’ standards.
I am so happy to hear that bit of news!! Thanks
How/where do I register to vote. I own a home in THe Reserve at Estero
and found out that this community will be included in The Villages of Estero…however the zip code will remain 33967 which is a Fort Myers zip code. I am confused? Shouldn’t we have 33928 as our zip code. Please explain. Thank you David HOrton
You must be registered to vote no later than February 2 in order to vote for the Village Council Candidates. We have the voting information on this website under Council Election Information at http://esterotoday.com/quality-of-life/incorporation-referendum/council-election-information/. You may click on the Lee Elections Office website and click on Voter Registration at the top of their website. There you are able to download a voter registration application, complete it and mail it in to the Elections Office. Or you may call them at 533-8683.
We currently have 13 candidates running for the Village Council; residents need to vote for 1 candidate from each district (7 districts). We have all of the council candidate information under http://esterotoday.com/quality-of-life/incorporation-referendum/village-of-estero-council-candidates/ There will also be two public forums where you can meet the candidates. Please puruse all the links under Incorporation Information on this website.
As for the zipcodes, it is confusing. Because you live in The Reserve at Estero, you are in the San Carlos Fire District and have a Ft. Myers zip code, but actually live in Estero. This will not change. All the communities on Coconut Road in Estero have a Bonita Springs address/zip code. This will not change.
Can the new Village of Estero display its leadership by improving the options for hazardous household waste collection?Lee count’s program is frighteningly inadequate. A non-advertised quarterly collection, plus individual trips to a collection center in Ft. Myers are the only two options I have located. I intend to get involved with this issue through political activism and media exposure. It’s unbelivable that an area whose economy relies upon the environment is so lax in this area. Any thoughts?
This is certainly something you can bring to the new Village Council after it’s been established. The election is on March 3 and the first Council meeting will be held on March 17. A notice will go out with the times and location once the Council has been elected.
1. In Which district is Copperleaf?
2. do we vote only for the candidate in our district?
3. Where there is only one candidate for a district is that candidate
automatically elected as unopposed?
4. Is there a map available that shows the respective districts ?
1. Copperleaf is in District 6; see district map on Estero Today at http://esterotoday.com/what-would-be-the-boundaries/
2. Residents vote at large, meaning you vote for 1 candidate from each district. To learn about the candidates, go to http://esterotoday.com/quality-of-life/incorporation-referendum/village-of-estero-council-candidates/
4. Same as 1.
Re Estero Grande at Estero Blvd & US 41. what all was the developer approved for..was it just a zoning change or was it for their whole development plan. How much say will Estero have.
Estero will not have a lot of say in the final development other than to make sure that the final designs meet our Land Development Code provisions. What was approved was the residential portion consisting of 7 buildings with 285 units along with 4 outlets for commercial uses. The residential units and each outlot will need to receive a Development Order with design approval before it gets a building permit. Since Estero has not completed its update of our portion of the Land Development Code, existing rules will apply.
The street that runs behind Walgreen just off Williams Rd and West of 41 has a NO LEFT TURN signage at the Stop Sign. Maybe, just maybe this was needed when the Alberson’s was across the way, but Alberson’s is long gone
and virtually everyone turns left anyway.
I think it would be a good idea, especially with all the increased seasonal population, to remove the NO LEFT TURN signage and whenever time allows, physically removed the curbing at the stop that strongly forces you to turn right as you exit onto Williams Road.
This issue will be discussed at the upcoming ECCL Transportation Committee meeting at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, at the Library. You are welcome to attend.
What is the criteria to be a candidate for the new Estero towm board?
Here is a link to the Lee County Supervisor of Elections’ Village of Estero Candidate Qualifying Resource Guide, which is on the Estero Today website: http://www.leeelections.com/userfiles/Village%20of%20Estero_Candidate%20Qualifying%20Guide_Rev%20112514.pdf
Candidates have until noon, January 16 to submit all their information and candidate qualifying fees. Go to this site for full details: http://www.leeelections.com/userfiles/Village%20of%20Estero_Qual-Insert%202015.pdf
Is there a link to a good downloadable map of Estero?
You may click on one of the Estero district maps and then print. We also have copies of the district map, with the communities listed, which are being handed out at the ECCL membership meetings and the upcoming candidate forums. Here’s the link to the maps: http://esterotoday.com/what-would-be-the-boundaries/
Are there any plans to clean up the east ditch on Three Oaks north of Williams Rd. The road is beautifully landscaped until the Williams and then it is full of trash and mud. I realize it is an overflow but makes the whole area look bad.
This is part of The Brooks CDD. They have sent their representative out to look at the area and if it needs to be cleaned up, they will do so.
The Meridian of Highway 41 is not landscaped real well. How about some palm trees to beautify our lovely Estero?
FDOT has planted core level plantings. Bonita Springs added approximately $1,000,000 for additional plantings in the median dividers on US 41 in Bonita Springs. Any further plantings in any of the median dividers throughout Estero will have to be undertaken by the Estero council.
I am a recent resident of Rapallo and would like to know if there is a plan to install a traffic light on route 41. When travelling south on route 41 a turning signal would make it much easier to enter the community of Rapallo. Without a turning signal there will most certainly be traffic accidents.
Estero residents advocated strongly for a traffic light at this location, however, the Florida Department of Transportation maintains one is not needed.
That intersection is an accident waiting to happen. Perhaps the Hertz Corporation will be able to persuade the Florida Department of Transportation to review again.
Is there any information available regarding what will be built in the northern end of Coconut Trace (Bulb Road / Vandenburg Rd). This is the area north of the new Mattress Firm store that just opened, across Rt 41 from the Coconut Point Mall. Thank you.
A 54-unit assisted living facility is planned on the north side of Coconut Trace, immediately adjacent to Marsh Landing.
Thank you for your reply. We had heard about this assisted living facility, but were not sure of how certain the plan was. My neighbors and I (here in the townhomes in Marsh Landing) are concerned about the layout of the outdoor services for the facility (i.e. dumpster, backup generator, Etc.) and whether they were being planned to be on the east or the west side of the building. Can you direct me to someone whom we could address this question to and also voice our input regarding the planned location of those services please?
Thank you very much for your assistance.
You may contact Jack Lienesch, chairman of the Estero Community Planning Panel at email@example.com.
I would like to know what changes we will have to make in our address and zip code when we become the village of Estero. Also will we have to get new drivers licenses? We are FL residents
No one will have to make any changes in their address, zip code or driver’s licenses. These all remain the same.
Thank you. A lot of misinformation out there. Bill Heinz
Once Estero government is up and running, will they be able to do anything about unsightly properties and make the owners clean up their junk?
Also, where can we see the site plans for the new Walmart?
Initially, Lee County Code Enforcement will be in charge of code offenses.
The site plans for Walmart are under community planning on this website at http://esterotoday.com//?s=Walmart&x=0&y=0
Lee Co won’t do anything about the unsightly “bamboo curtain (in shreds)” garage door.plus they have unsightly trash laying around..I’m hoping eventually Estero will be able to do something.
Did you call Sylvia Zarco, Lee County Code Enforcement, 239-533-8892? If so, what did she say about this nuisance property?
They told me there was no ordinance saying a garage had to have a door on it.
If there is no Lee County ordinance regarding garage doors, then this is something to bring before the new village council.
What did she say about the yard trash you mentioned previously?
Is El Doracdo Acres the same as El Dorado Estates? We didn’t have a question on the recent ballot regarding the future of El Dorado Acres. To which municipality does El Doracdo Acres belong? Thank you.
El Dorado Acres’s HOA chose not to be included in the incorporation of Estero. El Dorado Acres is still in unincorporated Lee County.
Just looking at the street level view of the Village boundaries and it appears that one of the streets within The West Bay Club (Riverbrook Run) is falling within District 2, while the rest of The West Bay Club is in District 1 Is this just an error in the map details or is it correct?
You are correct, Riverbrook Run is in District 2. We need to amend the community list to reflect that.
Does it seem appropriate to divide a small tight knit community like The West Bay Club, over 55 homes on Riverbrook, most of which have owners who consider this their second home and are not registered voters in Florida? I would think the few remaining owners would prefer to be part of West Bay for districting purposes.
Estero’s seven districts were set based on the 2010 census from the Census Bureau, with approximately 4,000 residents in each district. Unfortunately, there are several communities which are divided: The West Bay Club, Breckenridge and Shadow Wood at The Brooks. These districts were approved by the state legislature on May 24, 2014.
I’ve been resident of Estero for nine years along the Corkscrew Corridor, and I believe there is a great need to add a new lane to each side of the road, as the need may not be immediate, but once Corkscrew Shores and the land between Wildcat Run and The Preserve is developed, the extra lanes will be greatly necessary.
In addition, there is no sidewalk between Stoneybrook and The Preserve, making it very difficult for walkers or bikers to travel anywhere beyond their neighborhood. I believe laying a concrete sidewalk or pavement path in this area would be an inexpensive and simple project for the newly incorporated Village of Estero.
You should contact Jim Boesch, ECCL Transportation Director at firstname.lastname@example.org. He’d be happy to have you join his committee to work on these projects.
I think flyovers will further divide our community. It puts local business at risk of losing business. Pedestrian walkways over busy roadways would be more eye-appealing.
I agree Mary!! Any “flyovers” should be for pedestrians and BIKES only!!! And they are essential in uniting our whole community. What fun to be able to ride all over safely to restaurants, and activities all around Estero. Love that idea.
We were told by Mirasol Management that a hotel was going up on Parcel 2F which is on the corner of Via Coconut and Coconut Rd. What hotel is it? Is there any more information about this?
A Marriott Suites has recently been approved to be built at this site. It will have 112 rooms and is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year. While it has already been approved by Lee County, it will be discussed at the November 17 Estero Community Planning Panel’s public meeting at 5 p.m. at the Estero Community Park.
Has it been considered/suggested to build pedestrian flyovers of US 41? Could envision something between Corkscrew & Williams as part of the Town Center plan. Also one to provide pedestrian access to Coconut Point.
I will pass your thoughts along to the consultants. Right now the focus is on pedestrian and bike crossings over Via Coconut Point, the railroad tracks just west of the park, and perhaps a roundabout at Via Coconut and Corkscrew Road/Sandy Lane.
I highly recommend the fly-overs over US41. I really think that they are ESSENTIAL to tying our whole community together with an ease and pleasure pedestrian/biking focus, otherwise US41 really divides our community. Yes, please pass this on to our consultants!
Will the Village Of Estero all have the same zip code once the 4 communities north of Estero Parkway (The Reserve, Belle Lago, Vines/Estero Country Club and Osprey Cove) fall into the Village of Estero?
No, the incorporation of Estero will not change the zip codes for those communities on Estero Parkway or those on Coconut Road.
THANK YOU FOR THIS FEATURE…POSTING COMMENTS AND GETTING REAL ANSWERS IS WHAT WILL HELP MAKE OUR NEW VILLAGE STRONG AND VIABLE! I HOPE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO INCORPORATE ‘LINKS” IN YOUR RESPONSES WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
QUESTION: IS ELDORADO ESTATES PART OF ESTERO?
No, El Dorado Estates is not in the Village of Estero; it remains in unincorporated Lee County.

The articles and power point presentation regarding the workshops are under Community Planning. You may type in corridor workshop at the Search button at the top of the website or here’s a direct link to the second public meeting http://esterotoday.com/community-discusses-esteros-future-growth-2/
Once the report is complete from the third and final workshop, it will be posted under Community Planning as well.
Can you please tell me what is the situation with the abandoned house on three oaks,? near the corner of three oaks and estero parkway, On the northwest corner
Lee County has an abandoned property ordinance. You may call 239-533-8340 to report this and get further information.
Could you please tell me more precisely where the 200+ unit assisted living facility w/ memory care component will be located? Also, how many stories high is the proposed building?
Thank you very much.
The Coconut Point Senior Living facility will be built on the south side of Pelican Colony Blvd. (just south of the Lee Memorial Health System’s property in Coconut Point’s South Village).
It is designed to be three stories, 45 ft. to the top of the roof. You may see the architectural drawings by going to http://www.esterofl.org and then clicking on Estero Design Review Committee; type in ALF in the google search, then click on Elevations overall June 17,2014.
I am the ECCL rep from the Residences at Coconut Point. Many of our residents have asked if there is a plan to landscape Via Coconut Pt. especially behind Coconut Point and Rapallo. It is pretty heavily traveled these days and some landscaping (at least the center median) would dress up the area. All summer long, residents had to call Lee County just to get the grass mowed. Please let me know who would be the best person to contact regarding my question. Thanks.
Jim Boesch is the ECCL director of transportation, which covers a number of items associated with roads, etc. His email address is email@example.com.
Alert voters the Estero Village vote is the very last item on page 2 of the ballot, don’t muss it!!!
This has been noted in the “Sample General Election Ballot Now Available” article that is already on the Estero Today website and will be noted again in an upcoming alert. Thank you.
Interested in timing and costs associated with Estero planning commission for a new project.
The cost is $100 to present to the Estero Community Planning Panel and you may schedule that with Jack Lienesch, chairman of the panel. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will the Estero fire department be responding to calls in the section on the north side of Koreshan Blvd. [ Belle Lago and The Reserve]
The fire districts will not change if Estero becomes incorporated. The north side of Estero Parkway is in the San Carlos Fire District.
Since Estero will come a village, which line item property taxes will go down. Unfortunately, all village taxes in NY increased. I hope you are correct in creating another layer of government.
The feasibility study shows there will be large surpluses for the first 5 years assuming there is no change in the present property tax rate. This is due to Estero’s large property tax base. This study did not include Hertz or the new Walmart, which will increase this tax base. You may read the study by clicking on Incorporation Information, then Feasibility Study Completed.
What is the status of the Two Mile buffer zone for Estero Village.
The two-mile buffer zone is included in the Village of Estero boundary map which was approved by the state legislature in the spring of 2014. To see the boundary map, click on http://esterotoday.com/what-would-be-the-boundaries/.
Thank you for your reply. I found it very difficult to find what I was looking for. Please allow me to ask the question a different way. Is Coconut point and WalMart included in the proposed Estwer1o Village?
Yes, both Walmart and Coconut Point Mall are included in the boundaries of the proposed Village of Estero.
What is the currant plans for the Walmart site? It’s September and nothing seems to be moving!
We have not heard anything since Walmart announced back in April that they would be starting construction soon. As soon as we hear anything further, we will post it on this website.
I will not be able to make the planning meeting this evening regarding suggestions for developement in Estero. I would love, love, love to see a WAWA market at the corner of Coconut Rd and US 41. They are moving into SWF, and it would be great to have them in Estero. If you are not familiar with them, I think they are opening up in Cape Coral.
You may want to attend the next workshop at 6 p.m., Thursday, September 25, at Estero Community Park. Other meetings will be held later in the fall.
We, at Lamb of God Church, are working with the developers on the North side of Estero Blvd and Three Oaks, to provide sidewalks etc. Have you approached Ned Dewhurst about annexing this property?
Estero would have to become a city before it considered any property owner’s request regarding annexation. The boundary map of the proposed Village of Estero, approved by the state legislators, is shown under Incorporation Referendum information on the Estero Today website.
Please publish a readable map that shows the outer boundaries (street by street) of the proposed Estero Village.
I have seen pitifully small maps published in the newspaper and in your communications that 1) are way too small of a font and 2) they seem to focus on districts.
At this point, I could care less about district information as do others.
Show us what areas are included in the proposed Estero Village and publish it on the website.
A readable map of the proposed area is long overdue!
If you click on “What would be the boundaries?” you will find the map that encompasses the boundaries of the proposed Village of Estero. By clicking on the magnifying glass in the lower right corner several times, you will see the individual streets listed.
Under the map, you will find a “click here to enlarge” link which will fill your computer screen showing the entire boundary of the proposed Village of Estero.
why has the NW corner of 41+coconut rd become a used car/rv lot and
airport ? DD
The County issued a permit for the RV show at this site as, according to County regulations, it is a permitted use. This is just one more reason why Estero needs to incorporate so that the Village of Estero can be in control of what happens on our lands.
Dan, I second your question (especially the part about the “airport”. There are folks flying powered paragliders in and out of that spot and quite frankly, I am done with them buzzing my house in Marsh Landing early on weekend mornings (the altitude they are at when they fly over is on;y about 100 feet which is WAY UNDER the FAA minimum altitude restrictions. It’s becoming a freaking free for all around here.
Dan, please send me an email at email@example.com so you and I can communicate “off-board” about our mutual concerns. Thank you sir.
Is Walmart still going to build at Estero Parkway and US 41?
If so, what time period?
The last public notice provided by Walmart was in April when they stated they would be starting construction in the next couple of months.
What is going on with Walmart store that was to be started Jan 2014 off Estero Pkwy?
Is there anything that can be done about unsightly property in Estero. In particular W. Broadway & especially 3750 Broadway where the garage door is a bamboo curtain & hanging & shreds.. there are other properties on Broadway alsothat could be cleaned up. Thanks
Lee County does have an abandoned property registration pursuant to Lee County ordinance No.13-18. The goal of this ordinance is to involve the mortgagee in an unsightly, abandoned property. With respect to abandoned properties, you can call 239-533-8340. However, if the property is not abandoned, you can call Sylvia Zarco (Code Enforcement) at 239-533-8892. Sylvia works under LDC Section No. 6-115, Maintenance. This section also has a subsection for Nuisances (D).
